Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Oct 20
Benevelli’s 2016 Barolo Ravera di Monforte is gracious, exquisitely perfumed and totally beguiling from the very first taste. Crushed flowers, mint, white pepper, blood orange and bright red berry fruit all lift from the glass as this weightless, classically austere Barolo shows off its personality. Bright acids and prominent tannins give the 2016 a good deal of bite and nervy energy vis-à-vis the other Barolos in the range. I wouldn’t feel in any rush here. Aging for the Ravera is ten months in 500-liter tonneaux (with about 10% new wood) followed by 13 months in 35HL cask.

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
